Briana Bower is a theatre educator and teaching artist. Originally from Wayne, Pennsylvania, she received a BA in Theatre with a focus in Theatre Education from Northwestern University, and completed an honors thesis that explored the process of site-specific devising with youth. After graduating from Northwestern, Briana worked with students of all ages at Light Opera Works, Haven Middle School, Dream Big, Chicago Children's Theatre, and Child’s Play Touring Theatre. She then moved to Austin to complete her MFA in Drama and Theatre for Youth and Communities. At UT, Briana researched how object/arts-based performance projects impact youth identity formation and perception, and explored the creation of site specific performative installations that invite audience participation and interaction. She now teaches theatre at Cedar Park Middle School. As an educator, she seeks to create theatre curriculum that engages students in performances and projects that respond directly to their lived experiences and communities.
